Offline Gateway (Dell)

Steps to troubleshoot a Dell gateway that is offline.

Updated over a month ago

Warning If the switch is grounded to the protective earth (PE), checks can be done without turning off all power supply equipment. If not grounded, ensure all power supply equipment, including motor voltages connected to the DAQ, is turned off. Wait at least 10 minutes before performing any maintenance work to ensure safety.

If your Dell gateway goes offline unexpectedly (not during a planned maintenance stop), follow these steps:

1. Power Cycle

  • Unplug the gateway from the power supply for at least 10 seconds to reset it.

2. Check LED Status

  • Power LED Off: The gateway isn't getting power.

    • Ensure the connector is secure.

    • Test the installation wiring using a certified multimeter. Place one probe in a connector of the power supply and the other probe in any available port of the gateway.

  • Power LED Orange: Startup error. Reset the gateway by disconnecting and reconnecting the power and switch after 10 seconds.

  • Cloud LED Off: Cloud connection lost. Perform the same reset. The cloud LED might take a few minutes to turn on after the system restarts.

3. Access SAM4 Setup Tool

4. Check Connectivity

  • For mobile connections, go to Connectivity > Mobile and adjust antenna if the signal is weak.

5. Contact Support

If the issue persists, send the support bundle to Samotics via onboarding-support@samotics.com.
