Installing Voltage Connections

Proper setup for voltage connections.

Updated over a month ago

The voltage or phase wire is measured through a direct, insulated pick-off branch. You can either branch directly from the source or from an existing insulated feed-through terminal block, with both methods protected by a 2A fuse. The images below illustrate the two options available for proper voltage connection.

If the branching method described below is not feasible, please contact Samotics. For specific branching points for other startup scenarios, please consult the line diagrams.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Install three fused terminal blocks on the DIN rail.

  2. Measure the required wire length between the VFD and the fused terminal blocks. Cut three extra phase wires to the correct size and install ferrules on both ends.

  3. Install the extra phase wires in the VFD.

  4. Open the connector of the fused terminal block using a screwdriver and install the phase wire into the fused terminal block.

  5. Check which phase the terminal block has been installed on, and add the corresponding phase marking on the phase wire between the VFD and the terminal block.

  6. Measure the required wire length between the fused terminal blocks and the DAQ, and cut three extra phase wires to the correct size. Install ferrules on both ends.

  7. Open the other connector of the fused terminal block using a screwdriver and install the phase wire into the fused terminal block.

  8. Check which phase wire the fused terminal block has been installed on, and add the corresponding phase marking on the phase wire between the fused terminal block and the DAQ.

  9. Connect the wire of the fused terminal block to the corresponding connector on the DAQ using a screwdriver.

  10. Measure the required wire length between the fused terminal blocks and the DAQ, and cut three extra phase wires to the correct size. Install ferrules on both ends.

  11. Open the other connector of the fused terminal block using a screwdriver and install the phase wire into the fused terminal block.

  12. Check which phase wire the fused terminal block has been installed on, and add the corresponding phase marking on the phase wire between the fused terminal block and the DAQ.

  13. Connect the wire of the fused terminal block to the corresponding connector on the DAQ using a screwdriver.

Notice Place the fused terminal blocks at least 2 centimeters away from the DAQ to avoid electromagnetic interference (EMC).
