Samotics Hardware Components

Overview of the hardware components provided by Samotics.

Updated over a week ago

The following items are provided by Samotics and are required to be installed in order to provide our service.

Data Acquisition Device (NOVAQ)

The NOVAQ collects analog data from the current and voltage sensors and converts them into a digital signal. The NOVAQ is supplied with power through Power Supply Unit or through Ethernet cable (Power over Ethernet - PoE).

The QR-code (underneath the Ethernet ports) is required later in the installation process for commissioning of the NOVAQ on the SAM4 database.

Power supply (48V)

The power supply unit (48V) powers the complete SAM4 system. One PSU can power up to 4 NOVAQs. The adapters are installed on a DIN rail.

PSU will be shipped together with 2-pole connector needed for connection between PSU and NOVAQs.

Notice The unit is regarded as permanently installed and shall therefore be provided with a switch or circuit breaker that is marked as such and located near the equipment.

Modem

The modem is used to sent the data from the NOVAQ to Samotics cloud in cases where connenction to the network via Ethernet is not possible.

This Device supports 4G and WiFi connection.

Each modem is shipped with pre-installed SIM card.

Power supply (12V)

To power up the modem you will be supplied with 12V PSU for DIN rail installation.

Notice The unit is regarded as permanently installed and shall therefore be provided with a switch or circuit breaker that is marked as such and located near the equipment.

Current sensors

The current monitoring sensors are placed at the secondary side of the transformer and connected to the NOVAQ.

Warning Use only sensors with approved reinforced insulation from the hazardous mains conductor.

Notice The wiring requirements for the current sensors are flammability V-1 or better, 2x cross-section between 0.75mm² - 2.5mm².

Feed-through terminal blocks (incl. fuse and end plate)

A fused test voltage can be easily branched using the 2-way fused terminal block with push-in technology. The terminal block has a swiveling fuse holder with a 2A fuse. The terminal blocks are mounted to a DIN rail. One end plate is used for every three terminal blocks, protecting the internal components of the blocks.

Notice Also includes the fuse and end plate. The provided fuse complies with the following characteristics which a replacement fuse must also fulfill: fast fuse 2A nominal current, 690 rated voltage, 20kA minimum breaking capacity.

Notice The wiring requirements for the voltage monitoring are: flammability V-1 or better, 600V, basic insulation, cross-section between 0.5mm² - 2.5mm².

Ethernet cables

The SAM4 system is delivered with Ethernet cables to connect DAQs to switches and switches to gateways. If these cables are too short or faulty, you can make new or longer Ethernet cables yourself.

Notice The SAM4 hardware is delivered with CAT 6 Ethernet cables (or higher).

Magnetic foot antenna

For 4G and Wi-Fi reception, use the supplied magnetic foot antenna(s). With its 2.5-meter cable, it can easily be placed outside the control cabinet for better signal strength. Extension cables are available upon request.

WiFi antenna

For WiFi reception, you will need to use one WiFi antenna, It has a gain of up to 5 dBi, which helps improve signal transmission and reception.

SIM card M2M (optional)

In case 4G is chosen to connect to the internet, a SIM card is already installed in the modem.
