Installing Voltage Connections

Proper setup for voltage connections.

The voltage or phase wire is measured through a direct, insulated pick-off branch. You can either branch directly from the source or from an existing insulated feed-through terminal block, with both methods protected by a 2A fuse. The images below illustrate the two options available for proper voltage connection.

If the branching method described below is not feasible, please contact Samotics. For specific branching points for other startup scenarios, please consult the line diagrams.


Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Verify that the fuses are correctly installed inside the terminal blocks, then mount all three fused terminal blocks onto the DIN rail and install an end plate.

  2. Measure the required wire lengths between the motor source and the fused terminal blocks, as well as between the terminal blocks and the green NOVAQ voltage connector. Cut all six wires to the appropriate lengths.

  3. Branch the voltage from the motor source and connect it to the fused terminal blocks. Most wires should have ferrules crimped on both ends. However, the cable end used for the voltage connection from the motor source should match the specific requirements of your setup.

  4. Check which phase each terminal block is connected to, and label the wires accordingly with the correct phase markings

  5. To connect the voltage sensing wires to the NOVAQ, unplug the green screw-type connector from the top of the device. Insert the wires into slots 1, 4, and 7, and secure them by tightening the screws. Make sure L1 is connected to slot 1 (closest to the DIN rail), L2 to slot 4 (middle), and L3 to slot 7 (closest to the front of the NOVAQ) and plug back the connector into the NOVAQ.
